Eswatini Tourism Authority

User Interface Design

Exhibited in 2021 Auburn University Graphic Design Juried Show

OBJECTIVE:

Redesign a web interface for a company of your choice, taking into account necessary improvements to the information architecture, user interface, and user experience.

 

CONCEPT:

Eswatini is a vibrant, dynamic nation, but their Tourism Authority website did not reflect this character to potential visitors. To make it more expressive, large photography was combined with distressed, condensed headline type, a bold, vibrant red to reflect the heritage and history of the color in Eswatini, and texture to create a tactile, functional, yet
beautiful aesthetic.

The Redesign Process:

Time Frame: 3 Weeks

1. RESEARCH

I started by doing user research into the problems plaguing the current Eswatini Tourism Authority website, and found a number of issues. The information architecture was too complicated, the presentation of content was unappealing, and the homepage was simultaneously boring and confusing.

2. INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

To address some of these issues, I simplified the navigation structure into five simple categories: Arrive, Do & See, Stay, Facts, and Deals. While it seems minimal, these are all the resources that a user might need to achieve their goal of gathering information and planning a trip to Eswatini.

3. PROTOTYPING

I started with low-fidelity prototypes, looking at a simplified page structure and optimizing both the flow of information and the desired course of action for the user. After refining these, I moved to high-fidelity prototypes, created with Adobe XD to finalize the design and layout.
